A single-herb liquid extract of dried bark of Fraxinus chinensis, cold-macerated in small batches and offered either as a traditional tincture in organic sugar-cane alcohol or as a vegetable glycerite.

About the plant

Qin pi has a party trick that doubles as its identity test. Steep a little of the bark in water and hold the liquid up to daylight and it shows a distinct blue fluorescence, an effect of the coumarins fraxin and esculin in the bark; Chinese pharmacopoeias have used it as the bench check for the drug for a long time. The tree is a medium-sized Chinese ash of hillsides and stream valleys, and it is one of the two trees on which the scale insect that makes Chinese insect wax is farmed.

Glycerite: Fraxinus chinensis dried bark, vegetable glycerin USP, distilled water.

No added sugar. Contains no artificial colours, preservatives or fragrances.

Suggested use

Shake well before use. Take 20–30 drops (about 1 ml, one full squeeze of the dropper bulb) in 2 oz of water or juice, up to 4 times daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare practitioner.
